The Cake Decorator is responsible for producing high quality decorated items and baked goods according to the company's standard product offerings. This includes decorating cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery items, as well as assisting in the daily operations of the bakery department. The role aims to increase customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions, providing fresh and appealing products, and delivering courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service. Responsibilities

  • Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated.
  • Ensures the department is merchandised per plan and meets company expectations for product availability, freshness, quality, and value.
  • Offers product samples, answers product questions, and assists customers in finding or suggesting products.
  • Fulfills customer requests and special orders, maintaining an efficient method of processing orders.
  • Decorates merchandise per customer request ensuring satisfaction with all products.
  • Completes daily and weekly tasks including communications and online training.
  • Processes and bakes merchandise according to production guidelines.
  • Reviews product quality for 'sell by' dates and takes necessary action.
  • Checks production schedule to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake.
  • Receives and unloads delivery truck and stores products in designated area.
  • Stocks and rotates department products to ensure freshness and date control.
  • Maintains awareness of inventory conditions and reports discrepancies.
  • Utilizes production planning tools to accurately produce fresh products.
  • Ensures product is held at the proper temperature per food safety guidelines.
  • Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating and communicating effectively.
  • Ensures company standards for safety, food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained.
  • Adheres to all regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to food safety.
  • Executes all product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner.
  • Reports all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment according to company guidelines.
  • Proficient with computer applications used in effectively operating the department.
  • Possession of Food Safety Certification or the ability to obtain same within 180 days of placement.
