About the position

The Special Education Teacher for Mild to Moderate disabilities at California Online Public Schools (CalOPS) is tasked with creating and maintaining a supportive and effective learning environment tailored to the unique needs of special education students in an Independent Study virtual setting. This role involves planning and implementing educational strategies that align with established policies and procedures, ensuring that each student receives personalized instruction that fosters their academic and personal growth. The teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, which are crucial for tracking student progress and ensuring compliance with educational standards. In addition to instructional duties, the teacher will assess students regularly to monitor their progress and adapt teaching methods as necessary. This includes assigning duties to classified personnel who assist in the classroom, overseeing their interactions with students, and providing constructive feedback to the administration regarding the performance of students in their care. The role may also involve collaboration with other educators and staff to create a cohesive educational experience for students with special needs. The teacher will be expected to perform other duties as required by law, ensuring that all educational practices meet legal and ethical standards.
