About the position

The Captive Lab Engineer (4G/5G Test Engineer) role at Cohesive Technologies involves working in a hybrid environment to test and analyze 4G and 5G data performance in a captive lab setting. The engineer will be responsible for conducting RF/protocol/application testing, creating a knowledge base for team training, and collaborating with client teams to troubleshoot issues. This position requires a strong understanding of 5G/LTE technologies and hands-on experience in lab testing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Test various 4G/5G data performance and handover/fallback scenarios in a captive lab.
  • Perform RF/protocol/application testing for 4G/5G devices in the simulator lab.
  • Conduct field testing for Ericsson/Nokia infrastructure as needed in the Seattle area.
  • Create a learning knowledge base and train team members on new findings.
  • Collaborate with the client team to identify and resolve reported issues.
  • Conduct research and analysis to define features and functions for 5G advanced and 6G.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in 4G/5G, preferably 5G.
  • Expert working knowledge of 5G/LTE and VoLTE platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of 4G/5G protocols.
  • Experience with log analysis tools like QXDM, ShannonDM, ETL, etc.
  • Experience in testing with various modules, chipsets, IoT devices, and mobile devices.
  • Experience in lab testing with Keysight/Spirent/Anritsu and R&S simulators in both 5G/4G environments.
  • Knowledge of field testing for at least one operator and associated tools.
  • Deep understanding of LTE, VoLTE, 5G VoNR L2/L3 call flows and ability to analyze traces (PCAP, GNB traces).
  • Familiarity with bug reporting tools like JIRA and PLM.
