About the position
This is an unpaid internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program designed for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. The intern will train as a Combat Systems Test Engineer within HII Mission Technologies' Global Security group, focusing on naval combat systems and test engineering principles. The program aims to provide hands-on experience and prepare the intern for potential employment opportunities in fleet sustainment and combat systems maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Train as a Combat Systems Test Engineer under the guidance of a mentor.
- Gain hands-on experience with naval combat systems and technical documentation.
- Participate in ongoing projects and special tasks to enhance learning.
- Complete a capstone project integrating learned skills and present findings.
Requirements
- Active-duty military personnel within the final 180 days of service.
- Current/active Secret Security Clearance.
- AA or other 2-year technical degree in a related discipline and 3 years of related experience, or HS + 5 years related experience.
- Prior electronics troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience with Interior and Exterior Communication Systems.
- Experience with SHF, EHF, and HF Communication Systems.
- Familiarity with Digital Multiplexing Radio (DMR) and HFRG.
