About the position

The Case Aide position at Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center is a vital role focused on supporting residents in a mental health treatment environment. The primary responsibilities include supervising and monitoring resident behavior, ensuring medication compliance, and assisting residents in obtaining necessary identification and transportation passes. The Case Aide will also be involved in crisis intervention, providing transportation for residents as needed, and observing and recording resident activities and hygiene. This position requires active participation in various meetings, including staff meetings and case conferences, to ensure a collaborative approach to resident care. The Case Aide will also conduct random checks of the premises, report safety hazards, and assist in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all residents. Additionally, the role involves conducting group activities and orienting new clients to the residential program, ensuring they understand the program regulations and their responsibilities within it.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor resident behavior and record medication compliance.
  • Assist residents in obtaining California identification cards and MTA passes.
  • Provide situational crisis intervention as needed.
  • Transport residents as required.
  • Observe and record resident behavior and activities.
  • Monitor clients' hygiene and assign resident house jobs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, counselor meetings, in-service training, and case conferences.
  • Provide crisis intervention and management of assaultive behavior as needed.
  • Assist professional staff in arranging transportation for psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Conduct random checks of premises and buildings.
  • Order, receive, and stock food and supplies.
  • Report safety hazards, maintenance, and housekeeping requirements to the Safety Manager/Residential Manager.
  • Conduct group activities as directed and orient new residential clients.
  • Assign beds and distribute linens to clients.
  • Apply and enforce program regulations.
  • Attend clinical staffing of clients and provide input as part of the interdisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client data.

Requirements

  • Prior paraprofessional counseling or psychiatric nursing experience.
  • Academic training in Behavioral Sciences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences or a related area.
  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
  • Valid California Driver's license.
  • TB clearance.
  • Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
  • Fire and Safety Training certification.
  • First Aid Training Certification.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI) must be completed within 30 days from the date of hire.
