About the position
This part-time position requires the employee to work every other Saturday and Sunday from 3:30 PM to 11:00 PM, and every other Thursday from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM. The role assumes accountability for managing the delivery of care and ensuring patient safety. The employee will be responsible for educating patients about procedures, obtaining and documenting patient history, and ensuring proper identification of patients according to National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG).
Responsibilities
- Manage delivery of care and patient safety
- Educate and explain procedures to patients
- Obtain and document patient history and pertinent information
- Ensure proper identification of patients following NPSG guidelines
- Verify and follow Doctor's orders
- Provide for patient privacy
- Produce quality diagnostic images for interpretation
- Position patients and apply proper techniques including sterile technique
- Familiarize with the location of emergency equipment and medications
- Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care
- Document CT and PET/CT procedures in patient charts
- Understand and meet the safety, health, and morale needs of customers and co-workers
- Prepare patients for procedures and provide instructions to minimize anxiety
- Operate medical imaging equipment properly and safely
- Follow department standards for reporting malfunctions or problems
- Maintain current knowledge of the Meditech computer system
- Track all CT and PET/CT procedures to generate charges and create appropriate transcription shells
- Properly operate computer and digital equipment
- Operate consoles to provide the correct radiographic image as per examination specifications
- Follow CT procedures for biopsies and interventional procedures
- Select and prepare proper equipment and supplies
