About the position

The Catering & Events Sales Manager at Omakase Restaurant Group is responsible for overseeing the research, development, and management of catering events and private business from social and corporate groups. This role involves active promotion, solicitation, and prospecting to secure new business while ensuring exceptional guest experiences. The manager will coordinate all arrangements for events, working closely with clients and internal teams to ensure successful execution. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and includes commission-based earnings.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop catering events and private business opportunities.
• Actively promote and solicit new catering and event business.
• Coordinate all arrangements for events, including food and beverage, rentals, and incidentals.
• Supervise the execution of catering and private events.
• Maintain an active tracking system for inquiries, sales calls, and site visits.
• Schedule appropriate staffing for each event and review timing with staff members.
• Finalize deposits and payments for events and keep the office informed of payment details.
• Maintain a visible presence in the community through involvement with industry associations.
• Provide hands-on support during events as needed.

Requirements

• 5 years of previous experience in catering sales and event management.
• 1-2 years of experience in fine dining establishments preferred.
• Strong understanding of restaurant operations and ability to interface with chefs and restaurant managers.
• Proven track record of growing catering and event sales business for similar restaurant groups and/or hotels.
• Strong selling, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with California Food Handler's Card and Responsible Beverage Service Certification.
