The CCB Underwriter & Portfolio Manager II or III position at Truist Financial Corporation involves underwriting credit exposure for Commercial Banking clients and actively managing a Middle Market or Commercial and Industrial (CML) portfolio. This role requires day-to-day client interaction, managing portfolio risk, and adhering to all regulatory and compliance guidelines. A critical component of this role is the early identification of emerging credit problems and industry trends, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of the portfolio and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. In terms of underwriting, the individual will lead the entire commercial underwriting process, both internally and externally, with prospects and clients. This includes underwriting and documenting all prospect and client transactions, possessing a mastery of client expertise, analyzing individual company performance, and driving accurate ordering of real estate valuations, environmental assessments, and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) searches. The Underwriter will act as a liaison with Commercial Fulfillment and Commercial Sales Assistant (CSA), providing independent analysis of financial statements and business plans, identifying and mitigating key risks, and recommending appropriate loan structures while maintaining expertise around the bank's suite of ancillary products. For portfolio management, the Underwriter is accountable for managing the assigned portfolio by monitoring performance and trends, identifying issues, and following through for remediation. This includes ensuring risk rating integrity, conducting annual reviews, and managing all amendments and waivers in the assigned portfolio. The role requires an anticipatory, forward-focused, independent, transparent, and collaborative approach to risk management. The position also involves client calling efforts, where the Underwriter applies knowledge of credit policy, pricing, and structure to develop solutions that meet the client's needs while adhering to the Bank's risk acceptance criteria. The Underwriter will manage data integrity of all data inputs and outputs and review and update loan systems information to ensure accuracy. Although there are no direct reports, the role encompasses regular communication with clients, portfolio management teammates, relationship managers, credit risk managers, and other internal and external audit and examiner functions. The Underwriter is expected to provide independent risk recommendations and mentor junior talent as appropriate.
