About the position

The Cement Production Manager position at GCC in Odessa, TX, is responsible for overseeing the Clinker and Cement Business Unit to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous manufacturing operations. This role involves managing production processes, developing workforce training, optimizing production rates, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The manager will also be accountable for cost control, contractor management, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all activities within the Clinker and Cement Business Unit.
  • Develop, train, and educate the workforce in the Clinker and Cement Business Unit.
  • Develop and oversee Standard Operating Procedures for the Production Department.
  • Optimize production rates on all main process equipment through audits and heat/mass balances.
  • Monitor and track Production and Process Key Performance Indicators.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in systems and prioritize corrective action plans.
  • Provide input for the Preventive Maintenance Program and initiate work orders for repairs.
  • Hold other departments accountable for maintaining safe and efficient operations.
  • Monitor daily records, reports, and quality parameters to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain plans and schedules for employee training and work assignments.
  • Allocate resources for special needs in the plant or other departments.
  • Coordinate with Laboratory personnel to ensure product quality meets parameters.
  • Communicate with Environmental, Purchasing, Maintenance, Safety, and Process Control departments to maximize efficiency.
  • Manage cost control and contractor activities within the Production department.
  • Act as Control Room Leader in emergency situations.
  • Evaluate employees and enforce safety regulations.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives and recommend corrective measures to improve manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 10 years of cement manufacturing experience with a background in control room operations and/or process engineering.
  • Knowledge of various software including database, inventory, manufacturing, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
