About the position

The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) position at Kaiser Permanente involves independently managing the care of low-risk women during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. The role includes co-managing higher-risk patients in collaboration with physicians and providing standard maternity care and counseling, adhering to established medical standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients' general and obstetrical health status during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
  • Perform medical screening exams to diagnose labor and manage care for low-risk women during labor and delivery.
  • Consult with appropriate MD regarding any abnormal findings and order necessary lab and imaging studies.
  • Teach, counsel, and guide patients regarding their individual health care and family planning during the postpartum period.
  • Record all findings of examinations, histories, and significant observations on patients' charts.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Certified Nurse Midwife (California) required at hire.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three (3) years of experience as a C.N.M. within the last three (3) years preferred.
  • Current and valid California Nurse-Midwife furnishing certification preferred.
