About the position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position at Andahwod involves providing essential care to residents in an assisted living environment. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct resident care as directed by shift supervisor and outlined on resident service plan.
  • Perform well checks on residents, turn and reposition bedridden patients.
  • Assist residents with oral care: brushing teeth/dentures, oral hygiene, and any special mouth care as directed.
  • Assist residents with bath functions: transfer resident into/out of tub or shower and provide assistance with bath/shower as needed.
  • Assist residents with dressing/undressing as needed, and changing soiled clothing as needed.
  • Assist resident with bowel and bladder functions; take to the bathroom, offer bed pan/urinal, bedside commode.
  • Provide eye and ear care; assist residents with hearing aids and cleaning glasses.
  • Obtain and record temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure as directed.
  • Assist residents to ambulate with or without assistive devices as directed.
  • Transfer residents into and out of bed, chairs, wheelchairs, and vehicle as needed.
  • Reposition bedfast resident as indicated per resident service plan.
  • Explain all care to residents, their families and other medical personnel as necessary.
  • Assist residents with changing bed linens and cleaning rooms, removing soiled items when necessary.
  • Assist residents with exercise routines.
  • Serve and collect resident meal trays from apartments.
  • Assist residents with meals, cutting food, and feeding if necessary; record food/fluid intake if indicated.
  • Check each resident routinely and answer resident calls promptly.
  • Supervise resident with self-administration of medications. Provide verbal reminders of medication times.
  • Complete accurate daily documentation of resident services that are provided.
  • Report any changes in resident behavior, health status, or injuries to supervisor.
  • Provide companionship to residents by spending time with them and helping complete tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the State of Michigan.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with residents and all members of the health care team.
  • Good computer skills and ability to operate business computers and office machines.

Nice-to-haves
