About the position

The University of New Mexico School of Engineering is seeking a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as the Chair of the Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) department. This role involves guiding the department towards excellence in education, research, and service activities while fostering a culture of equity and inclusion. The Chair will oversee departmental operations, manage resources, and work closely with the Dean to develop strategic plans that align with the university's priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all education, faculty, research, and service activities across the Chemical and Biological Engineering department.
  • Manage departmental operations and budget strategically and responsibly.
  • Encourage philanthropic engagement and support for the department.
  • Lead the development of a strategic vision and plan for the department in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Grow enrollment, research, and innovation within the department.
  • Develop and expand partnerships with national labs and other organizations.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in chemical or biological engineering or a related field.
  • Record of scholarly achievement meriting appointment as a tenured full professor.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
  • Prior administrative experience in an academic setting is desirable.
  • Strong track record of impactful research and excellence in teaching.
