About the position

The Chemical Design Engineer position at IMEG Corporation is designed for recent graduates in Chemical Engineering. The role involves collaborating with experienced engineers to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients, ensuring successful project outcomes. The engineer will assist in various engineering tasks, including design analysis, implementation oversight of chemical processes, and maintaining project budgets while working within cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with clients to understand their needs and gather project requirements.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Support the execution of consulting projects as part of a project team.
  • Assist in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Document design decisions and monitor project design progress.
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions.
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
  • Assist in the development of equipment and instrument specifications.
  • Perform field work to document existing conditions and current installations.
  • Support cost estimate development including quote solicitation from vendors.
  • Assist in process controls design and development; perform engineering calculations.
  • Assist in bid package documentation development and review project construction progress.
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and contribute to research and innovation efforts.
  • Prioritize safety in all engineering work and identify potential safety risks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts for technical plans and specifications.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Basic knowledge in the use of BIM software.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior internship experience in the engineering consulting or chemical process industry preferred.
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) License preferred.
