About the position

The Chemical Engineer - Botanicals position at Amway involves guiding process development activities for innovative botanical ingredients used in beauty and nutrition products. This role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure quality outcomes and successful scale-up of processes from lab research to full-scale manufacturing. The engineer will focus on troubleshooting, developing manufacturing instructions, and implementing changes to meet high-quality standards, contributing to the advancement of botanical ingredient development.

Responsibilities

  • Guide process development activities from lab-scale research through pilot plant trials to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with partners across Farms, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, and Product Development to ensure seamless process execution.
  • Troubleshoot issues and implement changes to meet high-quality standards.
  • Develop and document manufacturing instructions in collaboration with formulation scientists and cross-functional teams.
  • Scale up novel processes involving technologies like sonication machines and fermentation techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 2+ years' experience in process development within the nutrition, food, pharma, or beauty industries.
  • Specific experience with botanical ingredients and consumer supplement products is highly desirable.
  • Experience in root cause investigation and issue resolution.
  • Experience in formulation development.
  • Proven track record of solving complex technical challenges and driving continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills with successful partnerships that deliver on strategic goals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with experimental processes and equipment, such as spray drying, sonication, and fermentation.
  • Strong ability to explain complex processes and translate trials into actionable manufacturing instructions.
  • Eagerness to work at the forefront of new ingredient development.
