About the position

The Lead Chemical Engineer will perform professional engineering and scientific work involving chemical processes utilized by industries and scientific technologies to produce products and systems. This role requires the application of leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts, contributing to the development of new principles and concepts. The engineer will work on unusually complex problems and provide highly innovative solutions, operating with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision. Additionally, the position involves mentoring or supervising employees in both company and technical competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional engineering and scientific work involving chemical processes.
  • Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts to develop new principles and concepts.
  • Work on complex problems and provide innovative solutions.
  • Mentor or supervise employees in company and technical competencies.

Requirements

  • 11+ years of experience conducting systems engineering or research developing and advancing physics-based models relating to atmospheric transport or biological weapons effects.
  • 11+ years of experience with computational dynamics and modeling, including solving partial differential equations using numerical methods such as finite element, finite volume, and finite difference.
  • Experience creating software tools that generate images with realistic, physics-based artifacts and qualities and supporting anomaly detection and classification.
  • Ability to evaluate all project aspects, including design, development, execution, and implementation of chemical and biological research.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Explosive Engineering, Chemistry, or Physical Chemistry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a principal investigator.
  • Experience with DoD agencies.
  • Experience with military operations, biological command, control, communications, survivability, and hard target defeat.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
  • Knowledge of weapons control technology.
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry or a related field.
