About the position

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Power Generation Chemical Engineer at our Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Green Bay locations. This position is part of a job family that includes Associate Engineer, Engineer, Senior Engineer, and Principal Engineer, where the experience of the selected candidate will determine the level offered. If you are currently in this Job Family, it will result in a lateral move. In this role, you will join a group of engineers who support the operation, maintenance, performance, and optimization of the Power Generation fleet. This position provides vital support to various thermal and renewable power generation facilities in Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula Michigan. The selected candidate will provide chemical and environmental engineering support to facilities in the We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service fleets. Regular travel to Power Generation (PG) facilities in southeastern Wisconsin is expected, along with intermittent travel to central Wisconsin and Michigan. As a Power Generation Chemical Engineer, you will perform troubleshooting, performance evaluations, optimization, failure analysis, and asset management of plant cycle chemistry, makeup water systems, plant wastewater, emissions control systems, and related equipment. You will determine and initiate corrective actions, manage the fleet cycle chemistry programs, and monitor and troubleshoot operating conditions while updating program standards as necessary. Additionally, you will prepare engineering designs, perform engineering calculations, and ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards. Your responsibilities will also include performing equipment testing, troubleshooting, and data analysis, as well as supporting and learning performance monitoring/optimization tools to ensure improved equipment and system reliability, efficiency, and performance. You will manage small to medium-sized projects, including material and equipment specifications, cost estimates, economic analysis, proposal review, and overseeing construction. Evaluating chemicals and chemical processes for safety and performance will also be part of your duties, along with updating drawings and other engineering documentation and maintaining corporate records.
