About the position

CDI Engineering Solutions is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join our team at the client site in Baton Rouge, LA. This role is pivotal in ensuring the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment within the facility. The successful candidate will leverage their engineering expertise to provide technical assistance to the maintenance supervisor, ensuring that all engineering principles are adhered to and that any deficiencies identified during audits and preventive maintenance (PM) inspections are tracked and resolved effectively. The Chemical Engineer will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively with other team members, contributing to a diverse and inclusive work environment that values every employee's input. In this position, the engineer will engage in various projects, including replacement in kind, painting, and fireproofing, as assigned by the manager. A key responsibility will be to review project turnover from expansion projects, helping to establish and organize comprehensive equipment files. The engineer will also develop piping isometrics based on PM inspection reports for the entire Baton Rouge facility, assist in the development of procedures, and participate in Mechanical Integrity Audits. Additionally, the role involves issuing purchase requisitions (PRs) and bid packages, evaluating bids, and routing them for approval. The engineer will assist with turnarounds and perform special assignments as requested by management, collaborating closely with Unit Engineers, Supervisors, and Project PICs on ongoing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work on various projects such as replacement in kind, painting, and fireproofing as assigned by the manager.
  • Review project turnover from expansion projects and help establish and organize equipment files.
  • Develop piping isometrics per PM inspection reports for the entire Baton Rouge facility.
  • Assist with developing procedures related to engineering tasks.
  • Participate in Mechanical Integrity Audits to ensure compliance and safety standards.
  • Issue purchase requisitions (PRs) and bid packages for necessary materials and services.
  • Evaluate bids and route them for approval to ensure the best options are selected.
  • Assist with turnarounds, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform special assignments as requested by management to support various engineering needs.
  • Collaborate with Unit Engineers, Supervisors, and Project PICs on ongoing projects to ensure alignment and progress.

Requirements

  • Bilingual fluency in Mandarin and English is required.
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Strong writing skills for reports, business correspondence, and manuals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to address and solve practical issues.
  • Proficient in gathering and analyzing data to inform decision-making.
  • Willingness to pursue projects and follow up in the field as necessary.
  • Computer literacy is required for documentation and project handling.
  • Experience in project handling and execution is essential.
