The Chemical Engineer position at REC Silicon is a critical role focused on enhancing production processes, equipment, utilities, and waste treatment facilities. This position is considered safety-sensitive, requiring the selected candidate to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, including cannabis testing. The primary objective of this role is to improve safety, quality, and productivity by making necessary changes to equipment design or operational procedures. The Chemical Engineer will be responsible for analyzing daily unit production, identifying areas for improvement, and collaborating with various technology resources within the organization to resolve complex issues that may arise beyond the scope of production engineering. In this role, the Chemical Engineer will work closely with operations personnel to address and resolve operational challenges, ensuring that safety, quality, and productivity are maximized. The position involves training operators on best practices and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new and modified equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. The Chemical Engineer will also coordinate with engineering teams to design and install new equipment, aid in the commissioning process, and generate production reports for management and other divisions within the company. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field, along with one to three years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is essential, and familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma tools, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools is desirable. The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and effective communication skills to present ideas clearly in both written and verbal forms. The Chemical Engineer will be a key resource for equipment, safety, and production-related issues, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
