About the position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Chemical Process Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN at the Y-12 National Security Complex. This position requires candidates to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance. The role involves providing Chemical Process/Design Engineering support, which includes participation in designs ranging from scope definition, feasibility and conceptual studies, and preliminary/detailed designs. The tasks associated with this position include flowsheet development, which encompasses block diagrams, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs. Additionally, the role involves conducting analyses and calculations, preparing reports and studies, performing SSC grading, supporting SDD preparation, and evaluating safety basis documentation. The engineer will also be responsible for equipment sizing and arrangements, cost estimates, procurement document preparation and support, and testing support. The Chemical Process Engineer will be responsible for developing high-quality detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and offering expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems. The design work will involve preparing conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and title II engineering deliverables, which include calculations, analyses, construction specifications & drawings, and equipment specifications. Candidates must effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task, routinely providing input to System Engineers and other plant customers. The role also requires performing walk-downs in existing plant facilities to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum BS Chemical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Minimum of 10 years technical experience.
