Chemours is seeking a Process Engineer to join our growing Monomers Manufacturing Technology team. This position will be available at the Fayetteville, NC location and report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager. The role of the Monomers Process Engineer is to provide technical support, guidance and oversight to the process systems of the manufacturing area with a focus on safety, operability and process improvement practices. The role includes implementation of improvement projects and is part of a team supporting a larger integrated development program aimed at improving plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day support to the Monomers manufacturing area unit operations, troubleshooting process issues, optimizing run conditions, and enabling high performance operations.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvements ideas through a change management process to enable Operations to improve EHS performance, meet or exceed production targets, and to meet yield targets.
  • Provide Chemical Engineering expertise for project work to ensure its compliance with specifications, engineering standards and quality assurance.
  • Initiate or review Changes of Designs <$500k to improve the safety, quality, environmental impact, or cost of the production unit and to support business growth.
  • Complete Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and participate in investigations for quality, uptime, and safety issues.
  • Lead and/or participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) related activities such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) reviews, Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity, Process Technology, and other technical and safety reviews.
  • Participate in the PSM criticality assessment process, Process Hazards Analyses and Incident Investigations.
  • Liaise between operations, maintenance, and construction to ensure successful implementation of projects.
  • Review and update operating procedures and other technical documentation.
  • Monitor the process by tracking Key Performance Indicators and provide guidance to Operations on achieving production goals.
  • Complete environmental calculations as needed to comply with regulations.
  • Provide remote off-hours support for a 24/7 operation, and occasional on-site off-hours support.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or another engineering degree with relevant experience designing and implementing process improvements in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • At least six months of internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing role.
  • Basic understanding of the principles of Data analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel and process data historians, Unit Operations in chemical processes and Engineering design standards and their application.
  • Ability to apply chemical engineering and other technical principles in process design and troubleshooting.
  • A self-starter and assertive mindset, with a willingness to initiate improvement ideas and to be vocal with thoughts and opinions.

  • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.
