About the position

The Chemical Regulatory Engineer is a pivotal role within Doosan Bobcat North America, responsible for ensuring compliance with global regulations, laws, and directives concerning the chemical content of products. This position requires a proactive approach to leadership and technical resource management, as the engineer will serve as a key point of contact for global offices and suppliers. The role involves promoting and educating stakeholders about the requirements of global chemical laws while identifying and implementing effective compliance solutions. The engineer will also be tasked with developing and maintaining processes to track future regulations, assessing their potential business impacts, particularly regarding chemical restrictions or prohibitions. In terms of strategy and planning, the Chemical Regulatory Engineer will develop a long-range plan for gathering and maintaining information related to chemical content in components. This includes serving as a technical resource for integrating chemical compliance regulations into both new and existing product designs and processes. Collaboration is a significant aspect of this role, as the engineer will work closely with Engineering, Supply Management, and industry groups to participate in regulatory and standardization processes. Establishing collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders and serving on relevant industry group committees will be essential for success in this position. The engineer will also maintain and organize a comprehensive database of all applicable regulations, laws, and directives regarding chemical and environmental compliance that affect the company's products. This ensures that the company remains compliant with all necessary regulations. Additionally, the engineer will serve on project teams that implement alternative chemical substances, assisting the company in understanding and executing chemical compliance activities such as product labeling, reporting, and registration. The role also involves recommending innovative solutions for data analysis and communication of requirements to stakeholders, as well as leading contractors who perform maintenance support for chemical compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a long-range plan for gathering and maintaining information related to chemical content in components.

  • Collaborate continuously with Engineering and Supply Management and with industry groups to participate in regulatory and standardization processes.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Maintain and organize a database of all applicable regulations, laws, and directives regarding chemical and environmental compliance that affect the company's products.
  • Serve on project teams implementing alternative chemical substances.
  • Assist the company in understanding and carrying out chemical compliance activities such as product labeling, reporting, registration, etc.
  • Recommend new innovative solutions for analyzing data and communicating requirements to stakeholders.
  • Lead contractors performing maintenance support for the chemical compliance programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field (including Chemical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Aeronautical, Electrical, and Environmental).
  • 5-10 years of related experience (advanced degree / specialized skills can substitute for some years).
  • Project management experience implementing technological solutions.
  • Experience with BI & Analytics and internal database solutions.
  • Ability to analyze and design data collection and analytical processes.
  • Experience with Internal Database Solutions, i.e., Microsoft SharePoint and Teams, and highly computer-literate.
  • Understanding of design, manufacturing, and procurement processes.
  • Ability to review project deliverables for completeness quality, and compliance with established project standards.
  • Analytical mindset and problem solver.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willing to work with distributed and multi-cultural teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and working experience with Information Material Data Systems (IMDS), Compliance Data Exchange (CDX), or Assent Compliance or equivalent a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, directives, and standards related to product chemical compliance.
