About the position

The Assistant Manager at Chickie's & Pete's is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. This role includes managing staff training, maintaining high standards of food preparation and service, and addressing customer complaints effectively. The Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in budgeting, reporting, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the restaurant in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Establish and administer training programs within the restaurant, including new employee orientation.
  • Direct the development and administration of controls for all phases of the restaurant in an economical and profitable manner.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and development methods for high quality preparation of food.
  • Assist in the maintenance and development of procedures for food service and present menu items for maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain an efficient program of scheduling to ensure high standards of food preparation and service.
  • Instruct assigned personnel on safety policies and procedures and follow up to ensure hazards are eliminated.
  • Monitor the appearance of all foods and communicate deviations from standard to the food prep supervisor.
  • Act immediately on all customer complaints to ensure corrections are made when possible.
  • Compile annual budget, variance reports, weekly management reports, and other necessary reports.
  • Monitor work of Food Cashiers to ensure established policies and procedures are followed.
  • Oversee follow-up work to ensure non-recurrence of cashier errors and ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Counsel, guide, and instruct assigned personnel in the proper performance of their duties.
  • Prepare and coordinate periodical performance reviews of assigned personnel.
  • Recommend changes including hiring, promotion, demotion, and release of personnel.

Requirements

  • Effective communication in English, both verbal and written.
  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree, preferably in hotel and/or restaurant management, or equivalent technical training in the food service industry.
  • Five years of restaurant/food service experience, including three years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to compile, compute, and analyze pertinent data needed for reports.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs including Word, Excel, Windows, and LMS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual abilities preferred.
