About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) oversees the planning, administration, coordination, and evaluation of Covenant rural hospital and its services. This role is crucial for ensuring quality patient care and efficient daily business operations while promoting a positive work environment characterized by health, healing, hope, diversity, and mutual respect. The CAO operates with limited supervision and is responsible for strategic planning, financial management, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, administration, coordination, and evaluation of Covenant Hospital Plainview and its services.
  • Direct and monitor staff to achieve and maintain quality patient care and efficient daily business operations.
  • Ensure compliance with standards established by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other regulatory agencies.
  • Administer CHS Human Resources and Administrative Policies and Procedures appropriately.
  • Promote a work atmosphere conducive to staff development and motivation.
  • Maintain effective relationships with medical staff, employees, patients, and their families.
  • Provide direction on strategic planning, marketing, financial management, and budgetary planning to the CHS Executive Management Team.
  • Engage in public speaking and presentations as needed.
  • Participate actively in various professional and community organizations.
  • Promote safety in the work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources Administration, or a related field from an accredited college/university.
  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration from an accredited college/university (preferred).
  • 4 years of experience in the healthcare field or closely related industry.
  • Generalist knowledge of all areas of health administration.
  • In-depth understanding of reimbursement as it applies to rural hospitals.
  • Knowledge of human resources administration, quality improvement, and JCAHO standards.
  • Strong management and supervisory skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships within and outside the organization.
  • Effective public speaking skills and ability to conduct presentations.
  • Knowledge of accounting methods and ability to interpret statistical data.
  • Computer skills (Windows-based software).
  • Flexibility in work schedule and willingness to travel.
