About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at Covenant Health is responsible for overseeing the planning, administration, coordination, and evaluation of the rural hospital and its services. This role ensures quality patient care and efficient daily operations while promoting a supportive and diverse work environment. The CAO works with limited supervision and is involved in strategic planning, financial management, and compliance with healthcare standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, administration, coordination, and evaluation of Covenant Hospital Plainview and its services.
  • Direct and monitor staff to achieve quality patient care and efficient daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with standards established by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other regulatory agencies.
  • Administer CHS Human Resources and Administrative Policies and Procedures appropriately.
  • Promote a work atmosphere conducive to staff development and motivation.
  • Maintain effective relationships with medical staff, employees, patients, and their families.
  • Exercise creative problem-solving approaches and manage conflicts tactfully.
  • Provide direction to the CHS Executive Management Team on strategic planning and financial management.
  • Engage in public speaking and presentations as needed.
  • Participate actively in professional and community organizations.
  • Promote safety in the work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Human Resources Administration from an accredited college/university.
  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in the healthcare field or closely related industry.
  • Generalist knowledge of all areas of health administration.
  • In-depth understanding of reimbursement as it applies to rural hospitals.
  • Knowledge of human resources administration, quality improvement, and JCAHO standards.
  • Strong management and supervisory skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships within and outside the organization.
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting methods and ability to interpret statistical data.
  • Computer skills in Windows-based software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration from an accredited college/university; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Licenses and certifications dependent upon area of specialization.
