About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is a senior executive role responsible for overseeing key central office support functions as part of NYCHA's Transformation Plan. The CAO will manage various departments including Human Resources, Information Technology, Procurement, and more, ensuring effective resource utilization and strategic vision implementation. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and guide the activities of NYCHA's key central office support departments, managing approximately 700 direct and indirect reports.
  • Manage an operating budget of more than $150 million.
  • Develop and implement critical elements of the NYCHA Transformation Plan.
  • Enhance integration and partnership between departments under the CAO's purview.
  • Oversee the implementation of critical NYCHA IT transformation projects in collaboration with the CIO.
  • Identify efficiencies and redundancies across central office support functions.
  • Develop the Authority's strategic vision around central office support functions.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of full-time paid experience in an administrative, executive, or consultative capacity in a large public housing agency.
  • A minimum of 10 years of full-time satisfactory professional experience in administration-related management is preferred.

  • Experience in complex organizational structures subject to regulatory oversight.
  • Experience in IT, human capital, or procurement.
