About the position

Chatham Area Transit (CAT) is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) who will play a pivotal role in providing administrative control and oversight within the organization. The CAO will work closely with the Executive Director/CEO and the Executive Leadership Team to enhance CAT's reputation and ensure the effective implementation of various programs, including Enterprise Risk Management, Human Resources, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion initiatives. This strategic position requires a customer-focused and innovative leader who can drive organizational transformation and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative control, guidance, direction, and oversight as the Chief Administrative Officer.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management program.
  • Manage Procurement and Contract Administration, Human Resources, and IT Innovation Performance.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to enhance CAT's reputation through best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Provide risk and compliance support for major initiatives and vendor management projects.
  • Investigate trends in the insurance industry and advise management on best practices.
  • Create and deliver presentations to Executive Management.
  • Support the CFO in developing annual operating and capital budgets and spending plans.
  • Oversee human resources strategies, including recruitment, training, and compliance with various programs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in business administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of progressively increased experience in managing resources and staff.
  • Proven success in organizational transformation and improved efficiency.
  • Administrative experience in a transportation/transit environment or equivalent public sector organization.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to produce a high-performance work team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
