About the position

The Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing Title IX compliance, risk management, and safety initiatives across the university. This role ensures adherence to federal and state regulations, including Title IX, OSHA, and the Clery Act, while fostering a safe, equitable, and compliant campus environment. The officer develops and implements policies, conducts investigations, and provides training on Title IX, compliance, and risk mitigation. Additionally, they manage safety programs, emergency preparedness, and legal compliance efforts, collaborating with university leadership, security, human resources, and legal counsel. This position plays a key role in maintaining institutional integrity, reducing liability, and promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and respect within the university community.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Title IX Coordinator and oversees Title IX compliance for the University.
  • Engages with faculty, staff, and students to provide resources and guidance on reporting options, support services, and institutional policies.
  • Prepares detailed investigation reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Develops and delivers training programs for faculty, staff, and students on Title IX policies, prevention strategies, and reporting obligations.
  • Oversees the university's response to Title IX complaints, ensuring a fair and equitable process.
  • Coordinates supportive measures for individuals involved in Title IX cases, including academic accommodations, counseling referrals, and safety planning.
  • Maintains oversight of university-wide compliance in partnership with AdventHealth's compliance team.
  • Supports the development and implementation of educational programs and initiatives that promote understanding of ethical behavior and compliance obligations.
  • Monitors and audits consistency in department materials, policies, practices, website, catalog and handbooks across the university.
  • Ensures employees and students are compliant with federal, state, and university regulatory obligations.
  • Monitors compliance data and prepares reports that inform policy adjustments and procedural improvements.
  • Works with appropriate departments, determines audit and monitoring needs, and reports out on yearly audit items.
  • Conducts risk assessments to identify compliance gaps and potential legal exposures.
  • Maintains databases of grievances, legal action and employee and student training/education related to compliance/policies.
  • Develops and publishes policies and procedures, forms and notifications in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Ensures policies are up-to-date and consistent on the University website, student Handbook, Employee handbook, faculty handbook, adjunct handbook, program handbooks, Academic Catalog and in syllabus statements and manages revisions and new policies.
  • Receives, collects, returns necessary information for grievances and legal actions and proceedings.
  • Manages all contracts for university.
  • Serves as a liaison with legal counsel on risk-related issues, policies, and investigations.
  • Oversees university-wide risk management and safety compliance programs.
  • Develops and implements campus safety policies, emergency preparedness plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, Clery Act, and other federal and state safety regulations.
  • Investigates safety incidents, workplace injuries, and potential hazards, ensuring proper reporting and corrective action.
  • Collaborates with campus security, facilities, and emergency response teams to ensure a safe environment.
  • Evaluates risk management strategies for university events, programs, and activities, including travel safety policies.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of the department strategic plan.
  • Participates and leads in appropriate university committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-years of experience in risk management, compliance, Title IX coordination, safety programs, OR related fields within higher education, corporate, OR public sector environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in law, business administration, public policy, human resources, or a related field required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's preferred.
  • Title IX Coordinator Certification.
  • Familiarity with training and education program development related to risk management, Title IX, Clery Act, OSHA, or other regulatory frameworks.
  • Training/certifications in Trauma Informed Care, Civil Rights Investigations, and/or Title IX Investigations.
  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP).
