About the position

The Chief Court Counselor for District 9 is responsible for organizing and directing a juvenile court counseling program that provides essential services and supervision for delinquent and undisciplined juveniles. This role involves overseeing the delivery of services, developing community relations, and ensuring compliance with legal standards. The position requires a commitment to improving the lives of youth in the community through effective program management and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and direct a district court juvenile court counseling program.
  • Provide comprehensive supportive services and court-ordered supervision for juveniles.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programming and service delivery.
  • Coordinate workflow and develop resources for juvenile programming.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of program services with general statutes and department standards.
  • Develop community relations and manage activities with human service agencies, community groups, and schools.
  • Provide consultation to court and law enforcement officials.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a human service field and three years of experience in counseling or related human service case management, including one year in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in counseling or related human service case management, including one year in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of public administration principles, adolescent development, juvenile delinquency dynamics, and juvenile laws.
  • Experience managing liaison activities between human services agencies and community groups.
  • Experience directing juvenile court counseling services and community-based programs.
  • Experience developing and coordinating program services within diverse county systems.
  • Experience establishing cooperative relationships with community agencies.
