About the position

PlanRVA is seeking a highly skilled and motivated finance professional for the senior-level position of Director of Finance and Administration. This role is crucial for achieving the department's mission by partnering with the Executive Director and senior management to ensure maximum operational performance and excellent service delivery to the community. The Director will lead a dynamic team responsible for developing and implementing financial and administrative systems, requiring strong leadership, effective communication, and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance and administration team to achieve operational goals.
  • Prepare the annual budget and its amendments, ensuring timely issuance of financial reports.
  • Develop and administer the agency's internal control system according to fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Oversee grant and contract compliance through management of the indirect cost allocation program.
  • Administer the agency's treasury and revenue operations in accordance with established policies.
  • Coordinate recruitment, selection, development, training, and assessment of personnel needs.
  • Develop internal operating practices that align with goals of efficiency, transparency, accountability, and sustainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in organizational financial management and strategy.
  • Solid understanding of federal, state, and local policies governing public sector fiscal operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of general governmental accounting and compliance with GAAP and GASB.
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring technical staff.
