About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at CentraState Healthcare System will play a pivotal role in the financial leadership of the organization, reporting directly to the Corporate CFO of Atlantic Health System (AHS). This position requires a strategic business partner who will work closely with the President of CentraState Health System (CSHS) to provide financial expertise, advice, and analysis that supports both CSHS and AHS initiatives. The CFO will be responsible for assessing and evaluating the financial performance of CSHS, ensuring alignment with long-term and short-term operational goals, budgets, and plans. This role will also involve creating and collaborating on business plans with service line leaders and other stakeholders to drive growth and expansion. In addition to strategic planning, the CFO will prepare and present monthly financial reports, analyze financial results, and maintain a healthy revenue cycle. The position requires ongoing monitoring of expenses to identify opportunities for efficiencies and cost reduction, as well as developing and maintaining operating and capital budgets. The CFO will actively participate in Board of Trustees meetings and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards. This role is essential for guiding the financial direction of CentraState Healthcare System and ensuring its sustainability and growth in the healthcare sector.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic business partner to the senior leadership team to enable execution of the financial strategy in conjunction with AHS and CSHS level initiatives.
  • Assess and evaluate financial performance of CSHS with regard to long-term and short-term operational goals, budgets, and plans.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of CSHS, including collaboration on business plans with service line leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in pivotal decisions related to strategic initiatives by creating and establishing financial objectives that align with CSHS's and AHS's growth and expansion plans.
  • Identify and effectively communicate potential risks in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in Board of Trustees and subcommittee meetings for both CSHS and AHS, as well as community meetings.
  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, regulatory compliance, and procedures affecting financial reporting and operations.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports including profit and loss, volume trends, and productivity.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations to site leadership.
  • Maintain a healthy revenue cycle and managed care relationship to ensure consistent patient throughput and cash flow.
  • Monitor expense structure to identify opportunities for efficiencies and cost reduction.
  • Identify, develop, and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches, and new service offerings.
  • Develop and maintain monthly operating and capital budget.
  • Engage with Foundation leadership for funding requests.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation or master's degree preferred
  • Experience in an integrated health delivery system and senior care facilities strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive healthcare finance experience
  • Current knowledge of JCAHO, OSHA, State, and federal regulatory standards.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence.
  • Ability to analyze situations, evaluate data, and recommend courses of action.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in decision making and react calmly in high-pressure situations.
