About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial and operational strategies of the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will be responsible for implementing financial systems, managing financial operations, and ensuring the organization meets its strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in non-profit financial management and will be adept at leveraging technology to enhance financial processes and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and evolve MOAS's financial infrastructures and processes.
  • Implement management processes and policies to ensure effective operational functions.
  • Collaborate with the Development department for proper reporting and analysis.
  • Oversee the technology organization to ensure operational resilience and security.
  • Spearhead financial strategy and operations for an organization with an annual budget of $4-5 million.
  • Partner with leadership to lead complex projects and ensure cross-collaboration.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
  • Deliver financial analyses, modeling, and projections to stakeholders and the Board of Directors.
  • Lead the annual budget planning process and provide monthly budget-to-actual reports.
  • Research, identify, and implement a new financial reporting system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or a relevant field.
  • 10+ years' experience in strategic planning, finance/budgeting, and operations.
  • Extensive understanding of non-profit financial management and reporting.
  • Significant experience in systems implementation.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Excellent project management and structured thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of Financial Edge and Altru or similar software systems.

  • Experience creating business plans that identify the return on investment.
