About the position

The City of Amesbury is seeking a skilled and experienced municipal finance professional to serve as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This role requires a strong knowledge of municipal finance rules and regulations, superior communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. The CFO will oversee the city's financial operations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations while contributing to the financial health of the municipality.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the city's financial operations and ensure compliance with municipal finance rules and regulations.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with city officials, staff, and the community.
• Prepare and present financial reports to the city council and other stakeholders.
• Manage the city's budget process and financial planning activities.
• Serve as an ex-officio member of the retirement board.

Requirements

• Master's degree in finance, accounting, or a similar relevant field.
• At least seven years of work experience in municipal finance or a related field.
• Certification as a Massachusetts Municipal Auditors & Accountants' Association Certified Accountant or willingness to secure certification within two years of appointment.

Benefits

• Annual salary of $150K-$160K
• Additional annual stipend of $4,500 for serving as ex-officio member of the retirement board
