About the position

The Chief of Staff to the Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer (CSIO) plays a critical role in maximizing the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of the Chief Strategy & Innovation Office and for the BI organization. The successful incumbent will drive day-to-day operational support for the Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer including preparation for interactions, meetings, presentations, etc. This role ensures the BI organization’s effectiveness through proactive planning, clear objectives, effective prioritization, and appropriate briefings. The Chief of Staff anticipates and addresses key issues/opportunities across BI and ensures completion in a timely and effective manner, working in close collaboration with BI Communications, People Experience (PX), and Finance leads.

Responsibilities

  • Support/coordinate ELT and executive-level commitments of the BI office.
  • Help address and coordinate resolution of requests from various Pfizer stakeholders (e.g., CEO's office, ELT members, Board members).
  • Interface with and engage key stakeholders (e.g., ELT Chiefs of Staff, BI members, DBO’s and other BI line leaders) to manage and coordinate operational and planning needs on behalf of the BI.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment in overarching BI processes and systems, where needed.
  • Prepare Business Intelligence materials for investor interactions, including earnings presentations, financial performance summaries, and any necessary supporting data visualizations.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to gather insights, key messaging, and financial data for earnings calls, investor meetings, and conferences.
  • Ensure alignment between internal messaging and external communications.
  • Track industry trends, peer performance, and market sentiment to provide context to Head of BI.
  • Lead/support pan-BI and Pfizer enterprise initiatives, as appropriate.
  • Manage and oversee end-to-end planning of BI team meetings, including defining meeting agendas and tracking action items.
  • Support planning, management, and coordination of key complex meetings of the BI.
  • Plan trips for BI and selected BI members to evaluate partnerships with key customers and business development opportunities.
  • Coordinate the Operating Plan process in partnership with Finance.
  • Coordinate the earnings process across the group Chiefs of Staff and develop the BI materials for investor interactions.
  • Partner with internal and external communications to support planning and management of communications needs of the office of the BI.
  • Support BI vision and goals through development and effective implementation of operational plans and priorities.
  • Help navigate broader BI and Pfizer organization to connect colleagues to appropriate individuals or resources.
  • Identify, raise/share, and implement best practices.
  • Develop partnerships with key colleagues in other functional areas ensuring ongoing alignment of goals and strategies.
  • Independently lead BI projects requiring strong business assessment, analytical and financial acumen.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or relevant industry; high financial literacy a plus.
  • Deep understanding of business operations, including financial performance.
  • Ability to understand and analyze the company’s financials, market trends, and strategic objectives.
  • Ability to distill complex data and financials into accessible and actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical skills, especially in understanding financial statements and KPIs.
  • Familiarity with the Pfizer organization and ways of working.
  • Proven ability in managing day-to-day planning and operational activities.
  • Experienced in communicating and interacting with internal and external senior executive stakeholders.
  • Robust understanding of biopharmaceutical industry, R&D processes, and the external and internal business environment.
  • High energy level, sense of urgency, creativity, decisiveness; ability to work hard and well under pressure.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
