About the position

The Chief of Staff at Stanford University will play a pivotal role in supporting the Director of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) by facilitating communication between staff, stakeholders, and the Director's research lab. This position is responsible for ensuring the Director is well-prepared for engagements, advancing research initiatives, and advising on strategic initiatives within SIEPR. It is a full-time, 18-month fixed-term position with the possibility of renewal, offering a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently implement, administer, and evaluate day-to-day activities of the unit, function, or program.
• Collect and analyze data, create reports, and review trends to formulate recommendations.
• Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise, and implement procedures for the program or function.
• Represent the program as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department.
• Organize and participate in outreach activities, including developing communications and planning events.
• Participate in budget development, monitor expenditures, and provide recommendations for budgeting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and multi-task effectively.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to take initiative on projects.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
• Experience working independently and as part of a team.
