About the position

The Chief of Staff will support the Director of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) by facilitating communication between staff, stakeholders, and the Director's research lab. This role involves ensuring the Director is prepared for engagements, advancing research initiatives, and advising on strategic initiatives. This is a full-time, 18-month fixed-term position with the possibility of renewal, based on the Stanford campus with a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

• Independently implement, administer, and evaluate day-to-day activities of the unit, function, or program.
• Collect and analyze data, create reports, and review trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions to achieve program goals.
• Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise, and implement procedures for the program or function.
• Represent the program as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department.
• Organize and participate in outreach activities, including developing communications and planning events.
• May participate in budget development, monitor, and approve expenditures.
• May supervise staff and direct their work.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to take initiative.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
• Experience working independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant subject matter knowledge.
