About the position

As a Chief Systems Architect in the Value Added Services - Digital Marketing & Engagement organization at Visa, you will provide technical leadership and oversight to software architects and engineers, collaborating with product partners on large and complex projects related to Customer Engagement, Loyalty, and Marketing. This role requires a hands-on technologist who will spend 20-30% of their time coding, while also driving the architecture and delivery of strategic projects aligned with business strategies in innovative payment acceptance and integrated commerce management.

Responsibilities

• Drive the architecture for key cross-team and cross-product development projects.
• Establish software development patterns and best practices through examples and shipping code.
• Coordinate, organize, and execute qualitative and quantitative decisions, advising senior management on insights and recommended actions.
• Influence, motivate, and collaborate with a wide variety of partners and stakeholders.
• Ensure all relevant project teams follow a common set of principles and utilize standard technology frameworks and libraries.
• Provide leadership across the architecture community to ensure solutions align with platform principles and standards.
• Mentor and build high-performing engineering teams.
• Apply architecture best practices to increase execution velocity.
• Develop secure, robust, scalable, modular, API-centric, and global architectures.
• Influence technology selection for the enterprise and define deployment topology.
• Optimize the use of Visa's Platforms & Solutions.
• Demonstrate thought leadership through presentations and teaching across Visa.

Requirements

• 12+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or at least 9 years of work experience with an Advanced degree, or 6 years of work experience with a PhD, or 15+ years of relevant work experience.
• Strong experience in deploying and managing software in public Cloud technologies.
• Proven knowledge of successful design, architecture, and development of complex systems.
• Experience in Java language, Spring, Hibernate, Angular, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, and HTML5/CSS3.
• Experience in API Development using SOAP or REST, JSON, and XML.
• Experience with GIT/Stash, Maven, and Jenkins.
• Experience in SQL and/or PL/SQL, SqlServer, and Oracle.
• Ability to solve complex software development/design issues.
• Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and effective communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience developing as part of an Agile/Scrum team.
• Past experience in Payments is preferred.
