About the position

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving technological innovation and shaping the internal IT strategy of the organization. This position involves identifying strategic investments in emerging technologies and aligning research and development initiatives with the company's goals. The CTO will oversee technology operations, advise the executive team, and foster collaboration across departments to enhance business processes and drive innovation in the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the executive team on research and technology development, feasibility, and implementation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish business objectives and develop systems to meet those goals.
  • Conduct research and analysis to assess the viability and impact of technology investments.
  • Work with external stakeholders to prioritize technology investments that align with strategic business goals.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT and data strategy in line with the company’s objectives.
  • Oversee all technology operations, including network management, data storage, cybersecurity, and software applications.
  • Analyze business processes, identify inefficiencies, and drive process improvements through automation and standardization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and implement best practices across departments.
  • Implement project management tools and communication platforms to improve coordination and information exchange.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to solve complex problems and drive innovation.
  • Forge strategic partnerships with R&D organizations, universities, and external institutions to drive technological advancements.
  • Guide university and research grant programs, including partnerships with external consortia.
  • Stay current on emerging trends and developments in technology, aerospace, and finance.
  • Provide thought leadership on leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance business operations.
  • Act as a spokesperson on technological matters and represent the organization at industry events and conferences.
  • Lead and mentor the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Promote a positive work environment focused on creativity, accountability, and excellence.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of internal processes and initiatives.
  • Ensure data privacy and security.
  • Communicate technology strategies to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and monitor the technology budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 15+ years of proven senior leadership in IT strategy and technology investment, preferably in aerospace, finance, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies, research methodologies, and industry trends.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate the commercial viability and strategic importance of new technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record of building and managing strategic partnerships.
  • Leadership experience with a focus on team development, talent management, and fostering innovation.
