About the position
TRC is seeking a Civil Engineer for our growing Engineering team in Scranton, PA. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking for experience and will provide support for permitting, design, and construction of a wide variety of technically challenging projects primarily for industrial, utility, and renewable energy clients. As a Civil Engineer III, you will work side by side with our design and engineering team to perform calculations and develop designs. You will be responsible for designing stormwater management systems and erosion control facilities for civil engineering projects. Additionally, you will prepare applications for local land development approvals and state environmental permits, perform engineering calculations to support designs including stormwater and general civil aspects, and develop designs and plan sheets in Civil 3D. You will also assist with the development of reports, plans, and specifications for client and governmental approvals and construction. A responsive attitude when interacting with staff, peers, management, and clients is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Work side by side with our design and engineering team to perform calculations and develop designs.
- Design stormwater management systems and erosion control facilities for civil engineering projects.
- Prepare applications for local land development approvals and state environmental permits.
- Perform engineering calculations to support designs including stormwater and general civil aspects.
- Develop designs and plan sheets in Civil 3D.
- Assist with the development of reports, plans and specifications for client and governmental approvals and construction.
- Maintain a responsive attitude when interacting with staff, peers, management, and clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
- Must have EIT certification and/or PE License.
- 3-10 years engineering experience providing civil-site design including stormwater management systems, site grading, road alignment and similar tasks.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
- Experience with HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling/hydrology software.
- Fluency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
- Valid driver's license without major violations.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Solid technical and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with energy related projects, specifically renewable energy (wind, solar, etc.).
- Experience independently analyzing and interpreting data regarding site uses and topography to develop stormwater management plans and best management practices.
- Experience with design and development of erosion and sediment control plans.
- Site grading/contouring design experience.
