Civil / Structural Engineer

About the position

The position involves designing and supervising construction projects, utilizing computer-assisted engineering and design software. The role requires taking building designs from concept to final design and construction, applying extensive knowledge of engineering principles across various assignments. The individual will make independent decisions on complex engineered systems based on their experience and seniority, and will apply Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CS&A) principles to design, plan, permit, and construct civil works. Responsibilities include performing engineering calculations, generating layout plans, and assisting in the preparation and approval of design documents. The role also involves providing technical expertise, ensuring compliance with national codes and standards, and working in multi-discipline teams to ensure design integration. The position requires checking design media for accuracy, managing timelines, and adhering to environmental health and safety policies. Additionally, the individual will recommend new equipment and techniques, support installation and testing of systems, and participate in cost estimation for engineering services.

Responsibilities

• Complies with environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
• Recommends new equipment and techniques to improve performance and reduce costs.
• Conducts independent research and analysis for plant changes and design modifications.
• Supports installation and testing of site systems and components.
• Participates in cost estimation for engineering services and coordinates work assignments.
• Leads and directs the work of others, providing consultation on complex projects.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills for presenting design media to large audiences.
• Advanced knowledge of FEA and civil design software, as well as Microsoft Office.
• Strong knowledge of functional discipline and its practical application.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes and regulations.
• Strong knowledge of management of complex engineering projects.
