The Cleaner will work under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor and perform a variety of custodial duties for C&W Services. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in various facilities, ensuring that all tasks are completed in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures set by C&W Services. The Cleaner is expected to perform a range of cleaning tasks that contribute to a safe and pleasant environment for all building occupants. Typical job duties include sweeping, mopping, and washing floors and other surfaces within buildings. The Cleaner will utilize both light and heavy commercial cleaning equipment, including floor buffers and shampoo machines, to ensure that all surfaces are properly maintained. Vacuuming rugs in offices and public areas is also a key responsibility, along with spot cleaning and shampooing rugs as directed. In addition to floor care, the Cleaner will be responsible for cleaning and dusting furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and all other horizontal surfaces. This includes periodic high dusting to maintain cleanliness at all levels. The role also requires washing windowsills, glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows, as well as cleaning and spot washing interior walls as necessary. The Cleaner will ensure that bathrooms are cleaned and restocked with paper supplies daily, following standard bathroom procedures which include damp wiping glass surfaces, emptying waste baskets, servicing soap and toilet paper dispensers, dusting sills, and cleaning tile walls and floors. Monitoring for defects such as clogged urinals and burnt-out lights is also part of the job, with the expectation to report these issues to supervisors. Daily tasks also include collecting building trash and placing it in approved containers for removal, replacing liners in waste baskets, and shoveling snow from steps and walkways as directed. Periodic work may involve high dusting, polishing leather and wood surfaces, and wall washing. The Cleaner may also be assigned any other duties as needed to maintain the cleanliness and safety of the facilities.
