About the position

Gray Tier Technologies is looking for a Data Scientist to support a contract providing integration, design, development, and sustainment for one of our Intelligence Community clients in Springfield, Virginia. The work Supports the Chief Engineer with building data storage architecture, including schema, formatting, indexing, accessing, retrieving, and maintaining data integrity. Junior Data Scientists will support an exciting National Security mission to position NGA to be the enterprise and community GEOINT data provider, improving the way analysts, customers, and end users access, discover, stage, link, produce, re-integrate, and deliver intelligence. You will work with talented developers and colleagues, gaining exposure to industry best practices such as AWS cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large sets of structured data, looking for anomalies and undiscovered correlations.
  • Perform deep dive analysis into data sets and reports to identify problems or suspected issues with data.
  • Manipulate data from multiple structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Apply analytical methodologies to diagnose data-related challenges, implement solutions, and evaluate performance.
  • Conduct data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • Correlate data into graphical, written visual and verbal narrative products.
  • Categorize the data and metadata to build the metadata application profile.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to increase available data quality and speed of delivery.
  • Participate on an Agile development team, using Scrum techniques.
  • Work with the software engineering team to deploy models that provide ongoing forecasts, optimizations, recommendations, and insights.

Requirements

  • Experience writing code in Python, R, Scala, JavaScript, C++ with documentation for reproducibility.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of visual programming or object-oriented modeling workflows to automate data acquisition.
  • Experience as a data scientist using imagery data.
  • Experience with Apache Hadoop, HUE, Hive, Pig, Spark, Elasticsearch, Kibana, or Tableau.
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree plus 1-3 years experience, or a Masters Degree plus 1-3 years of experience.
