Responsibilities

• Understand routine laboratory test procedures and quality assurance protocols.
• Correlate clinical information and report discrepancies to supervisors.
• Collect and direct the collection of specimens with attention to patient identification and safety policies.
• Troubleshoot specimen problems and investigate processing errors.
• Communicate with CLH staff and outside reference labs to meet patient needs.
• Provide guidance to laboratory personnel and medical staff.
• Ensure appropriate supplies are available in the assigned area.
• Train laboratory personnel in testing requirements and procedures.
• Participate in Total Quality Management (TQM) activities and report quality evaluations.
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control in the laboratory.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in medical technology or related science from an accredited program.
• Current and active certification from ASCP as a laboratory scientist (MLS) or AMT as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment including computers, automated analyzers, and pipettes.

Nice-to-haves

• 2+ years of laboratory experience in a hospital/commercial lab setting.
