About the position

The Master of Nursing (MN) Program Director will strategically manage the MN program, including the oversight of curriculum, integration of teaching technology, and development and support the implementation of a student recruitment plan. Work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff within the College of Nursing across all campuses and WSU Health Sciences, as it continues to create both knowledge and community impact across the state of Washington and beyond. The goal is for this position to begin on or before July 1, 2025, but the start date is negotiable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the MN program on all WSU College of Nursing campuses, including re-design of the curriculum, implementation, and evaluation (coordinated with the Director of Curriculum and Evaluation), clinical placements and evaluation of experiences.
  • Partners with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in maintaining program accreditation, and regulatory standards; student admission, progression, retention, and graduation.
  • Partners with the Chair of the Advanced Practice Department to ensure faculty recruitment, retention, and preparation meets programmatic needs.
  • Facilitates communication, and partnerships to key stakeholders.
  • Monitors trends in MN education and practice and provide leadership for MN program expansion, diversification, and refinement.
  • Monitors and promotes continuous quality improvement.
  • Develops long- and short-term student admission and retention strategies in collaboration with the Center for Student Excellence.
  • Works with the administrative team in promoting state-wide and national recognition for the MN program.
  • Communicates programmatic needs with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
  • Initiates or supports faculty in the preparation and implementation of grants to support educationally related activities and serves as PI/Co-I as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or a PhD degree in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing new and innovative approaches to nursing education.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with community partners and alumni to benefit teaching, scholarship and outreach programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and the reduction of health disparities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Digital education experience, including the use of multiple digital or technology-supported teaching/learning platforms and mechanisms.
  • Leading programs that are delivered to students across state lines.
  • Leading academic programs at a Research-intensive, health sciences center.
  • Knowledge of Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC) standards for nursing education and practice in the state of Washington.
