About The Position

Design, implement, and continuously manage cloud-based applications and supporting infrastructure at the Texas Computer Cooperative (TCC), ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementations.
  • Three years of data center computing strategy and transformation management with cloud services evaluation and implementation.
  • Extensive knowledge of installation, configuration, and maintenance of application software in a variety of network environments.
  • Three years of Java development teams experience preferred.
  • Three years of experience with SQL (in code and on database), complex SQL concepts, and related databases preferred.
  • Three years of experience with standard tools for debugging both code and database driven functionality preferred.
  • Ability to understand entire scope of complex computer software systems preferred.
  • Ability to express business and technical concepts, verbally and in writing required.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools, security management standards, LAN/WAN protocols, and telecommunications equipment.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol.
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience implementing, monitoring and managing system backup strategies.
  • Experience managing web-hosted applications.
  • Strong business, technical, analytical, problem solving and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and track projects.
  • Ability to make sound judgments in decision-making using foresight and creativity in areas supporting the production environment.
  • Proficiency in the development of technical specifications and user documentation and in conducting training sessions for technical professionals.
  • Experience with automation and analysis of performance and reliability data.
  • Understanding of global network design and Internetworking.
  • Experience with security engineering, server and network hardening, auditing and reporting.
  • Knowledge and use of helpdesk management tools used to plan, track, and support enterprise operations.
  • Experience with help desk and remote control access software.
  • Proficiency with standard functions within electronic applications such as MS Office (e.g., word processing, electronic spreadsheets) and e-mail.
  • Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include desktop management, file management and operations, and working in a network environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and ensure a high level of system availability and reliability of TCC hosted systems.
  • Analyze cloud requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Deploy software to cloud computing infrastructure, and work with system configuration and deployment automation technologies, working with ETL tools and techniques.
  • Consult with other TCC staff to evaluate operational and performance requirements of overall cloud technology system.
  • Leverage software development and open-source solutions to automate tasks required to enable and manage the TCC's products and services.
  • Troubleshoot and provide solutions to customer issues with TCC cloud deployments.
  • Serve as the systems support lead of the TCC software packages.
  • Assist in security assessments, audits and inspections to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Implement and enforce security plans, policies and procedures to protect personnel, assets and information.
  • Implement cloud-based product solutions in an optimum way to achieve the expected levels of functionality and quality.
  • Ensure and provide technical support to TCC ESCs by researching and resolving problems reported by clients and ESC staff to include problems related to data access, security, performance and connectivity to the TCC environments.
  • Provide training and assist ESC technical staff with implementation of ESC managed data center environments.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of technology resources in areas such as Users and Data Protection, Software/Application Security, Incident Management, etc.
  • Monitor the health of servers and system resources required for operations and growth, ensuring appropriate functionality.
  • Read, write, and interpret technical and non-technical material relative to data center implementation and performance.
  • Serve, as requested, as a system/network resource for ESC-20 operations outside of the TCC Data Center.
  • Serve on assigned task forces and user groups to make decisions that represent the best interest of ESC-20, TCC and our affiliated clients.
  • Facilitate and coordinate collaborative dialog with marketing, professional services, and product managers to provide high value product outcomes.
  • Maintain contact with computer technology firms, communications service providers and state agencies involved in technology.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and clients regarding pertinent systems activities.
  • Interact, monitor, and document activities of external third-party technology vendors.
  • Ensure third-party technology vendor compliance with established security procedures.
  • Ensure proper security measures are in use for Systems and Operations at all times.
