About the position

The Cloud Database Administrator is responsible for implementing and maintaining Cloud-based database systems. The individual will work closely with stakeholders to design, implement, and manage databases in the environment. Honda has a clear vision for the future, and it's a joyful one. Responsibilities

  • Setup / Configure Database Instances in the Cloud, Create Databases, Allocate resources such as Storage / Compute / Memory.
  • Implement strategies for HA, Failover DR and Replication.
  • Perform deployments and run periodic backups.
  • Establish access and authentication controls to secure data, setup encryption, masking as required.
  • Resolve platform related issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors for product related issues, patches, bug fixes and perform upgrades.
  • Fine-tune database systems to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability - including monitoring and optimizing database query performance, indexing etc.
  • Meet with application teams to understand new / enhancement requirements and recommend high-level direction and approach to upcoming projects.
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders on defining and implementing technology direction/roadmap within the cloud database technology space.
  • Assist in migrating on-premises databases to the cloud and integrating data from various sources into cloud-based systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology and/or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3 to 5 years experience with NoSQL database systems (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Neo4j, Neptune etc.).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with cloud-based database technologies (AWS, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, Aurora etc.).
  • 1 to 3 years' experience working with large database / large scale projects.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts, virtualization, and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • AWS - Amazon EMR, Glue
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB or Google Cloud SQL is plus.
