About the position

As Cloud Operations DevOps Engineer, you'll use your expertise in container and Kubernetes to develop and operate a multi-cloud platform for Siemens Cloud products. This position makes significant contributions towards the delivery DevOps solutions that support best-in-class cloud based microservice applications. You'll be a member of a dynamic, cross-functional, geographically dispersed team, working with subject matters experts from Infrastructure engineering & architecture, software engineering, DEVOPS, security, networks, firewalls, computing & storage to deliver a global, powerful, scalable, cost efficient, highly available platform that meets the changing needs of the business. As an infrastructure and cloud DevOps engineer, you will have responsibilities in designing, implementing, and operating automated infrastructure and processes at scale. To meet service level agreements, support team resource needs, enable CI/CD, meet compliance standards, and have good documentation, create and maintain IaaS environments. Recognized by peers as a strong collaborator. Must excel in a team environment that changes with new technology adoption and evolving customer requirements. Works with some supervision on the most complex projects and desires to obtain complete latitude for independent judgment. Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain highly scalable, efficient, performant & resilient capabilities, meeting availability targets of 99.99%.
  • Develop, operate, and support the platform by leveraging your advanced experience in Public and Private cloud environments and container runtime environments.
  • Collaborate with specialists in Networks, Firewall, Security, computing & storage technologies.
  • Using Infrastructure As Code (IAC) best practices, create automated infrastructure within AWS/Azure, on on-premise environments, including package management, application load/configuration, systems monitoring and administration.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD tools, services, processes to support development, QA, and customer value realization teams.
  • Deliver improvements to source code management, deployment, operations, maintenance, cost control, security, monitoring, and audit tools and processes.
  • Continuously work towards making tasks easier and helping Siemens maintain their competitive advantage.
  • Ensure the production environment is operating in accordance with established procedures and best practices.
  • Provide escalated support for high severity and critical network events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux OS and the open-source ecosystem.
  • Advanced expertise with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including ECS, VPC, EKS, IAM, with experience in equivalent Azure technologies also acceptable.
  • Proficient in automation tools such as Jenkins, GitLab-CI, as well as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
  • Strong experience in designing and implementing DevOps solutions, including automated infrastructure, CMDB, GitOps, and ChatOps.
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, Golang) and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
  • Hands-on experience automating repetitive operational tasks using programming and scripting languages.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and ensuring robustness and efficiency.
  • Hands-on experience in developing RESTful APIs, microservices, and Kubernetes operators, with an emphasis on testability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Experience with continuous integration and testing processes, with GitLab-CI preferred.
  • Experience in Incident Management, Problem Management, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, with the ability to manage goals, track milestones, and report on progress.
  • Advanced system administration experience, including troubleshooting, support, mentorship, and oversight.
