About the position

At Tempus, biological samples are processed in our in-house lab and turned into valuable genomic data. This data flows from on-site to an extensive cloud-based infrastructure and set of workflows that produce impactful insights. SaaS products are developed in-house by cross functional teams to share those insights with our clients. Tempus’ approach to information security allows us to react to threats to any of the environments and workflows described above and identify and close gaps quickly. Our effective security operations engrained with comprehensive monitoring, testing, and risk management allow us to protect Tempus without reducing the speed at which we do business. You and your team set the security goals and design and deploy the products, controls, and workflows to ensure Tempus will continue to make a lasting impact in the field of cancer research and treatment. As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will be critical in securing Tempus’ cloud environments. The position is responsible for developing and executing workflows for our Information Security organization to illustrate how cutting-edge technologies can be leveraged to enhance Tempus’ cloud security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Triage alerts generated by Cloud Security Posture Management Tools
  • Threat Modeling of cloud services
  • Create scripts to achieve a high level of automation
  • Deploy infrastructure as code in cloud environments (Terraform)
  • Conduct POCs, evaluate security tools and foster valuable vendor relationships
  • Configure and create custom monitoring & alerting functions in the cloud
  • Collaborate with Leadership in developing policies and standards for Containerization, Infrastructure as Code, Cloud configurations, Cloud Network Security, and Compute workloads
  • Respond to Cloud Security Incidents and conduct investigations

Requirements

  • 3+ Years of overall IT Experience with a major emphasis on Information Security
  • 3+ Years of experience building and integrating systems within cloud providers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Azure & GCP
  • Proficiency in using APIs with automation to complete tasks
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of containerization technologies
  • Experience with log analysis software and techniques
  • Experience working with Jira
  • Knowledge of cyber security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, CIS Controls)

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong knowledge of AWS
  • AWS/Azure/GCP certifications
