About the position

Hatch Stamping Company is seeking a skilled CMM Programmer to join our team at our Portland, TN facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of stamping processes and part conformance verification using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). This role is critical in supporting both production and new product launches, ensuring that all parts meet the stringent quality standards required in the automotive industry. The CMM Programmer will be responsible for programming CMMs using software such as PCDMIS and CAD++, and will work closely with engineering and production teams to verify part dimensions against technical drawings. In this position, the CMM Programmer will perform a variety of tasks including part verification, CMM programming, gage and instrument calibration, and conducting capability studies. The role requires maintaining accurate records and summarizing data for management review. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles, and will be able to apply these principles effectively to ensure accurate measurements. Additionally, the CMM Programmer will utilize various trade tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gages, and will be expected to read and interpret blueprints as necessary. The CMM Programmer will also need to interface effectively with tool and die makers, showcasing strong teamwork and communication skills. A commitment to quality, safety, and attendance is essential, as is the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment. This full-time position offers a stable work schedule from Monday to Friday, with no weekend work required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years' work experience as a CMM programmer
  • Experience with programming software: PCDMIS and CAD++
  • Understanding of GD&T principles and ability to apply them to CMM programs
  • Thorough understanding of dimensional layout techniques, GD&T, SPC and Gage R&R
  • Ability to properly use all required trade tools (i.e. calipers, micrometers, C.M.M., height gages, ring gages, go/no go gages, checking fixtures, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints as required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to perform in a team-oriented environment
