About the position

The CMM Technician is a critical role within our manufacturing team, responsible for ensuring that all products meet customer specifications through precise measurement and inspection. This position requires the use of advanced CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) technology, including Roamer Arms, to inspect finished products and ensure they conform to the required standards. The technician will collaborate closely with managers, engineers, and supervisors to develop and implement cost-effective methods for producing high-quality parts. In addition to inspection duties, the CMM Technician will be responsible for the calibration of all tooling, fixtures, and measuring devices. This includes maintaining an organized internal gauge database and ensuring that all measuring equipment is functioning correctly. The technician will also collect and analyze data related to company processes and products, compiling this information into comprehensive reports. Another key aspect of this role involves investigating and diagnosing quality complaints or defects in products. The technician will track down components related to these issues and recommend corrective actions to enhance performance and quality. Maintaining a safe, orderly, and clean work area is essential, as is completing necessary documentation such as time travelers, time slips, and required inspections. The CMM Technician may also be assigned additional duties as needed to support the team and the overall production process.

Responsibilities

  • Use CMM/Roamer Arm to inspect finished product
  • Collect and analyze data on company processes and products, arranging the data in reports
  • Investigate and diagnose quality complaints or defective products, tracking down components and recommending corrective actions
  • Maintain and organize the internal gauge database
  • Ensure dimensional accuracy and quality workmanship
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work area
  • Complete time travelers, time slips, required inspections, and appropriate paperwork
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Journeyman Tool & Die Certificate or Technical Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience or equivalent in the CMM Inspection field
  • Extensive ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Proficient knowledge of GD&T, extensive knowledge preferred
  • Extensive ability to operate CMM machining equipment
  • Extensive ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Extensive ability to solve problems using critical thinking skills
  • Extensive ability to organize and manage priorities, meet deadlines, and expectations
  • Extensive ability to measure/inspect lengths, diameters, straightness, or flatness
  • Self-confident with strong qualitative, analytical, and mathematical skills
  • Ability to operate a forklift with training

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working with Aerospace pieces
