About The Position

The CMM Programmer at Velocity Machine Inc. is responsible for creating and maintaining CMM programs for all produced parts. This role involves performing dimensional layouts, analyzing data against customer specifications, and producing necessary reports. The CMM Programmer collaborates closely with the Quality Manager to ensure that all parts meet the dimensional requirements specified in customer design records.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of consistent CMM Programming experience preferred.
• 2-3 years of Quality experience preferred.
• Understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to interpret blueprints.
• One year of PC-DMIS experience preferred.
• Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Write direct computer controlled CMM programs utilizing PC-DMIS software that correlate to the ballooned drawing.
• Take set up photos and create set-up instructions.
• Prove out CMM programs and verify accuracy when discrepancies arise.
• Assist machinists and operators in understanding and verifying discrepancies found during CMM first piece or in-process checks.
• Perform in-depth part layout using CMMs and other layout techniques, documenting and reporting results.
• Perform incoming inspection and layouts for casting, forging, or other supplied products as needed.
• Assist in completing tasks for new part quality documentation requirements including ballooned drawings and inspection check sheets.
• Follow standardized procedures for first piece, in-process, and final inspections across various parts.
• Understand the importance of random sampling for overall performance and audit entire batches for consistency.
• Perform gage verification (calibration) and assist in maintaining the gage recall system.
• Observe quality performance trends and communicate corrective actions to management.
• Actively participate in the internal audit team.
• Complete other projects and duties as assigned.
